National story telling week takes place every year and is a celebration of the power of sharing stories. Stories teach us about the world, they allow us to step into someone else’s shoes and feel empathy, they help us to relax and escape and they can help develop essential literacy skills. This afternoon P5/6/7 took the P1/2/3 children for a story telling session. They chose their own books and escaped to many different cosy corners of the school and classrooms. The younger children thoroughly enjoyed the novelty of being read to by another pupil and the older pupils, who maybe are not confident in reading aloud in front of their class did themselves very proud in reading to the younger ones.
