Persuasive Writing and speaking in P6/7
This term we have focusing on persuasive writing. We have explored the features of an argument and have had the opportunity to present our ideas for and against different scenarios during our Literacy lessons.
This week, as well as preparing our speeches for the Environmental Youth Speak Competition and delivering them to P3/4/5, we have been working in groups to discuss arguments for and against things such as
Should uniforms be compulsory for all children?
Should GAA players be paid?
Should children be allowed mobile phones?
The children have been engaged in their learning and have developed their skills in making valid points and having counter arguments. Next week we will develop this further and have a whole class debate. We have many potential barristers and lawyers in our midst! Super work boys and girls ✨✨
