P6/7 have been working hard exploring many cross-curricular areas through the Irish News Young Reader Initiative. Today we completed a scavenger hunt to find a range of features, headlines, opinions and grammar throughout the special education edition. We had a class discussion about how Newspapers and their uses have changed over time. This is an interactive, engaging programme which will run over the next 8 weeks. The children thoroughly enjoyed the session and can’t wait for the next instalment. They will also get a free copy to take home each week for additional reading about current issues, which in turn will not only develop their literacy skills but their awareness of the world around them.
