Today in STEM club children explored the chemical reaction that happens between salt and ice! The children discovered that by adding salt to ice, the ice actually gets colder! The temperatures can even drop as low as -21°C! The children then learned about how people in Victorian times made ice cream using this chemical reaction, and tried the method out for themselves! They were very pleasantly surprised! The children all loved the ice-cream and some were even going to experiment with the method at home by adding fruit into the mix too!
