Beginning school can be a stressful experience for children and parents alike.  At St Malachy’s we adopt a friendly child-centred approach and are sensitive to the needs and fears of young children and their parents.

St Malachy’s are one of a small number of primary schools which provide a Reception class for children who are aged four at the date of their admission, but who are not yet of compulsory school age (i.e. children whose fourth birthday is after 1 July 2022). You will be able to apply for a place in a Reception Class through the Education Authority online forms in the same way you do for P1 applications (see How to Apply page).
